Things to do: Junior year check list

August: Sign up for free lunch if you qualify
If you plan to play sports in college be sure to apply for the NCAA clearinghouse, visit the website and inform your counselor.

September: Put together a list of 10 colleges that you would like to attend, and research them

October: Register and take the PSAT

November- February: Continue researching colleges, attend workshops and seminars, investigate financial aid and scholarships.
Meet with your counselor to ensure that you are on track for graduation and college

March: Register for SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT

April: Register for SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT

May: Compile information, essays and references for scholarships.
Take SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT
Sign up for summer school or night school if needed

June: Take SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT
Sign up for summer school or night school if needed

Things to do: Senior Year

August: Apply for free lunch (this information is used for fee waivers and scholarships)
Review career & college choices.
Register for SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT
Get college applications online
Compile essays, letters of recommendation, brag sheet, list of awards, and transcripts for scholarship and college applications

September: Get applications and info on the colleges you will apply to, including fees, deadlines, and which require letters of recommendation.

Make sure your transcript has all classes not taken at Muir on it.

October: Fill out college applications.
Attend college nights, & seminars. .
Fill out CSS Profile if your school requires it.
Register for SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT

Meet with your Counselor to ensure that you are on the right path for graduation and college.

November: Send college applications.
Apply for scholarships.
Apply for PIN for FAFSA through www.pin.ed.gov

December: Begin preparing your FAFSA
Must SAT Reasoning, SAT Subject, and/or ACT if you have not done so. Apply for scholarships

January: Submit FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov by March 2. Parents – file taxes early to be able to easily fill out the FAFSA. Keep copies of all forms.
Apply for scholarships

February: Make sure Ms. Gonzalez has your correct Social Security Number for the Cal Grants. She must have this information by February 15th.
